The village

At the end of the valley.
At the start of the mountains.

Obergurgl lies at 1,930 metres at the quiet head of the Ötztal Valley. Surrounded by 21 peaks above 3,000 metres, the village is a natural base for mountain days in every season.

The high location means short approaches, wide alpine views and reliable winter conditions. Despite its high-alpine setting, lifts, hotels and many starting points are close together, making days in the mountains remarkably straightforward.

Summer and winter

Many possibilities.
One exceptional base.

Walking & hiking

More than 150 kilometres of trails lead from gentle valley walks to panoramic ridges, huts and high-alpine summits. Ten huts and alpine pastures offer natural goals, while two summer lifts make selected tours easier to access.

The ski area

Obergurgl and Hochgurgl form one connected ski area with 112 kilometres of pistes and 25 lifts. The slopes extend from 1,800 to 3,030 metres, creating snow-sure skiing from early winter well into spring.

Ski touring & freeriding

The altitude and surrounding glaciated mountains offer a long season and an exceptional range of ski tours and freeride descents: gentle introductory routes, Obergurgl classics, lift-accessed powder and serious high-alpine objectives. The final plan is always chosen according to experience, fitness, snow, weather and avalanche conditions.
