Easy to moderate
Ferwalljoch / Essener Spitze
2,908 m / 3,200 mA flexible tour through the quiet Ferwall Valley, from an accessible high pass to a panoramic 3,000-metre summit.

The tour
What to expect.
The Essener Spitze lies in the Gurgler ridge and is one of the more accessible high-alpine 3,000-metre summits above Obergurgl. After a short, slightly exposed ridge step, the summit opens a superb view from the Zillertal Alps and Dolomites across the entire Gurgler ridge.
Using the Festkogel lift saves approximately 500 vertical metres of piste ascent and starts the day with a 200-metre descent. The Ferwalljoch alone is also a worthwhile objective and an excellent choice for ski-touring newcomers.
The full ascent from Obergurgl takes around four and a half to five hours. Starting from the lift reduces it to approximately three and a half hours and 800 vertical metres.
A private full-day tour, adapted to the group and conditions.
Depending on the chosen start and route variant.
8 km route distance.
Transceiver, shovel and probe. Additional technical equipment when required.
